What is Chakra Yoga?

Chakra yoga is the practice of using yoga postures and controlled breath, known as pranayama, to cleanse, balance, and open the chakras, or energy centers of the body. Chakra yoga often uses the asanas employed in Hatha yoga because they keep the body and spine aligned, which helps liberate and balance the flow of chakra energy. The meditation, chanting and pranayama relax the mind, reducing stress and increasing energy. Postures associated with hatha yoga are often adopted in chakra yoga because they’re designed to keep the body aligned (or straight); namely, the spine, which is the super highway for the flow of chakra energy.

In Harmony

When our chakras are out of balance, it means that energy is “stuck” or not flowing properly. A variety of negative thoughts, emotions and trauma can block energy in our chakras. When energy is stuck for a prolonged period of time, we will start to manifest “dis-ease” and pain on the physical level. These physical symptoms actually started on an energetic level. By practicing Chakra Yoga, we can keep our energy centers balanced and in harmony.
